![]() ![]() The only major downside of GRID is the cabin view. The game also features dedicated drift playlists, supports 3D touch, gives you full control over your throttle, has quite a few well-oiled control schemes and a pretty professional racing feel to it. It can throw off pretty much anyone because it’s not the kind of realism a mobile game would normally have.Īlso, the destruction in that game is so beautiful and it can even be set to affect your car’s performance. Every car has weight, its own quirks and little details that make them all very different to drive. The cars also REALLY lean into the sim behavior. GRID’s only visual flaw is that it looks desaturated. It’s a simcade that can be tuned to be as easy (or as hard) as you want it to be and there are lots of cars, gamemodes, tracks, all of which are available from the get-go. If you want an A+ racing game on mobile, get GRID Autosport. Avoid it and add it to the Apple Arcade Dumpster. ![]() I’m lv22, club level 8, and I don’t feel like I made any progress within the game. ![]() At most you can race your buddies if they happen to log in and want to play with you, and even then it’s just the same old regular dull race, but now you have another person crashing into walls with you (probably because they also can’t control these stupid cars because the controls are GARBAGE).ĭo not waste your time on this game. What’s even funnier is that there’s a track in the game that goes “I got the virus”, which, during the still ongoing ‘rona pandemic, is hilariously tone-deaf. I despise the main menu theme, it alone makes me want to uninstall and never come back. It’s the most on-the-nose, pretentious score a racing game can have, and that’s saying something. Add that to the game only having 2 modes: time trial and regular race, and you have a very dull experience. Those “more tracks” are just parts of the 2 tracks, aka Tuscany and Desert. There are only 2 tracks in the game, and don’t be fooled by the “more tracks available!” reward when you level up. And after that you realize that the game is essentially playing itself as if it’s Asphalt 9, except without any of its map variety and visual spectacle. Cars have horrible handling, you have to turn up all assists to high in order to manage your car. The main reason behind that is the gameplay itself. The progression system is absolute whack and I think there’s a reason, why that’s the case. You can’t even paint your car a different color until it rolls around in the crappy store, so have fun driving a vomit green Porsche 911 until the end of time (or at least until the end of your subscription). Not only that, but the grind is encouraged by the horribly restrictive tuning and customization. A game that I have to pay for is overly grindy for some reason. And it does look pretty (mostly thanks to the saturation bumped up to 150), and the cars are fairly detailed… that’s about all positives I can recount.Īfter those 2 points come the countless issues that stem not from bugs, but actual game design decisions that are questionable and make me wonder, what in the world happened at the studio when they were making this game. It looked exceptional to me and I seriously wanted to see what a big league racing game on iOS would look like. It does not store any personal data.First of all, I’d like to say that I bought Apple Arcade for a month BECAUSE of this game.
